Deena Bashan is a doctor living in Tel Aviv and a childhood friend of former Mossad Officer/NCIS Special Agent Ziva David and girlfriend of double agent Ari Haswari.
Biography[]
Pre-Series[]
Deena grew up in an apartment complex across from Ziva David and her family, eventually inheriting the apartment from her parents. At some point, after the Davids had left, she fell in love and became the girlfriend of Ari Hiswari.
NCIS Season 11[]
In the episode 2 Past, Present and Future, NCIS Special Agent Tony DiNozzo and Shin Bet Officer Adam Eshel visited Deena at her apartment to ask her about Ziva. She told them the last time she saw Ziva was months ago at Eli David's funeral. When Tony showed her Ziva's 'I Will' list from when she was a child, she mentioned that she also had one, but denied knowing anything about the added entry of "stop this for him". She told Tony that Ziva had mentioned him at the funeral, stating she could see what Ziva felt, noting that perhaps the 'him' was Tony.
Later, back at Mossad, Tony figured out that after Ziva sustained injuries in an attack on a David safehouse, Ziva had approached Deena for medical assistance, their reunion captured on a surveillance camera. Tony visited Shamayim Hospital to confront Deena about her lies and demand answers. Deena admitted helping patch up Ziva's leg and allowing her to rest at her apartment. But when Ziva started talking of old times, Deena became annoyed, especially at the mention of Ziva's brother, Ari, who was her boyfriend. Ziva attempted to explain how Ari was hurting people but Deena spoke of how Ari too, was hurt and how Eli David had broken him. Ziva begged Deena to forgive her, but she couldn't and Ziva left. Tony demanded Deena tell him where Ziva was but Deena didn't know. Bitterly she asked Tony why Ziva should have the man she loves when she took Ari from her. Tony vowed to find her, leaving Deena shouting after him that Ziva was gone and no longer the same person.
