Dwayne Cassius "King" Pride is the NCIS Special Agent-in-Charge of the NCIS New Orleans Office and also the leader of the NCIS New Orleans Team.

His marriages include a former union with Linda Pride and a current one with Rita Devereaux. He has two children: Laurel Pride and Connor Davenport. His parents are Cassius Pride and Mena Cantrell, and his grandmother was Lucille DuBois. He shares a half-sibling relationship with Jimmy Boyd. In the past, he was romantically involved with Sasha Broussard.

Biography

Pre-Series

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Pride was the son and presumably only child of criminal Cassius Pride and Mena Pride.

He had an uncle who owned an oil rig with young Pride spending many summers working on the oil rig.

At some point, Pride served as a deputy sheriff for Jefferson Parish with Pride also revealing to have earned the second highest arrest record in the history of the history of Jefferson Parish's Sheriffs Office.

In 1989, Pride joined the Naval Investigative Service. Leroy Jethro Gibbs joined in 1991 with the two men having a strong friendship that has lasted for more than thirty years.

Pride and Gibbs were members of a group of agents known as the "Fed Five" who soon gained fame for arresting Victor Lorta even though the two men would not discover until March 2014 that their boss, NIS agent Dan McLane had framed Lorta in exchange for helping the true killer, Spencer Hanlon out of public life while McLane also received money from Spencer's father, Josef Hanlon which he used to help pay for his daughter's treatment as she had been diagnosed with leukemia.

After the Fed Five was disbanded, Pride embarked on a career that took him all over the world with locations including Russia and South Africa.

He later returned to Louisiana and headed up NCIS operations at the United States Marine Corps Support Facility in Algiers, Louisiana before NCIS opened up its main headquarters in downtown New Orleans.

Pride met Linda Walters who was nineteen years old and the two got married. She took his surname after the wedding, and they later had one daughter, a girl they named Laurel.

In 2003, Pride and Linda temporarily separated with Pride beginning a short relationship with Sasha Broussard that ended when Linda took Pride back some time later in 2004 for the sake of Laurel who was seven years old at the time.

Unknown to Dwayne, Sasha had just found out she was pregnant when he informed her his wife had decided to take him back for the sake of their then-seven-year-old daughter but opted not to tell him, Sasha keeping her own son's identity hidden from Pride for seventeen years.

In 2005, when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, Pride met Christopher LaSalle with the two becoming good friends.

• Dwayne Cassius Pride is loosely based on real life retired NCIS Special Agent D'Wayne Swear, who died on March 5, 2018 and was mentioned in loving memory in "Treasure Hunt".
