Empty Nest is the first episode of NCIS Season 22 and also the 468th episode of the entire NCIS series.
Synopsis
NCIS searches for a missing undercover agent in the midst of an active hostage situation.

- The second shot of the episode, where they flash "six months later" on the screen is an aerial shot of the Navy's Assault Craft Unit 5 (ACU 5) "Swift Intruders" area on Camp Pendleton. This is one of the Navy units that utilizes hovercraft (termed Landing Craft, air cushioned (LCAC) in the Navy). These craft carry large payloads, including personnel, equipment, armaments and cargo from amphibious ships to shore and across beaches for tha Navy and Marine Corps. They can carry up to 75 tons and have transported vehicles as large as an M-1 tank. The crew of each craft is entirely enlisted personnel. This unit has also assisted several times in transporting emergency vehicles from the Los Angeles County Fire Dept. to Catalina Island, off the coast of California, to aid in fighting brush fires as recently as 2007.
