Joseph "Joe" Milius is a Captain in the United States Navy.
Prior to transferring to the Pentagon, he worked as the Deputy Chief of Staff Pacific Fleet.
Biography[]

Born in Michigan, not much is known about Milius's life except for the fact that his father runs a hardware store while his sister is an Episcopal priest.
After finishing high school, he attended an unnamed college, playing bass in a jazz band and after graduating from the college, joined the United States Navy, reaching the rank of Captain.
NCIS: Hawaii Season 1[]

Milius made his debut appearance in the NCIS: Hawaii Season 1 premiere episode, "Pilot" where he was first seen at an area on the outskirts of Oahu which was where an experimental Navy jet had crashed, killing its pilot, a Navy Lieutenant Commander with Milius more focused on retrieving any highly-classified information than preserving and treating it as a crime scene, something NCIS Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant voiced her opinion on with the two soon coming to an agreement to work together, Jane informing Milius he could tell the wolf pack consisting of NTSB and FBI agents as well as officers of the Honolulu Police Department who had arrived at the scene that it was his idea with Milius agreeing and telling Jane they should give it a beat.
A few hours later, as Jane finished a phone call between herself and NCIS agents Jesse Boone and Lucy Tara concerning the discovery of a body, she and Milius spoke some more, Milius receiving he knew about her jacket: how she'd graduated from the top of her class at FLETC and received the Medal of Merit with Milius informing Jane that the case was very high-profile and that any wrong moves wouldn't only have Jane and Milius taking the fall but Jane's team as well before he left.
The next day, once the case had been solved, Milius along with a Navy honor guard stood to attention as a coffin containing Walters's remains were brought onto a Navy plane bound for his hometown of Grand Rapids in Michigan. Once the ceremony had ended, Milius approached Jane and spoke, offering an apology for his actions, one Jane accepted before she left.
