NCIS Season 13[]
In Sister City (Part 1) (episode), Luca's name was stated to be on a manifest of plane that Abby and McGee had to force down when it was discovered that all onboard appeared to be dead. Abby was able to quickly confirm that the chef onboard was not Luca and shortly after received a text message from him reading "Conniption" as a clue to an amusement park they visited as kids. Through carefully laid out clues, Luca led Abby to him, but Tony soon arrested him after he got a call from Gibbs claiming that Luca was the last one seen around the Blye plane before the murders.
At NCIS, he is questioned by Abby and Gibbs about his possible involvement in the poisoning of those on the plane. Luca confesses his innocence and reveals that he is involved with a woman who claims to be domestic abuse victim, but the team discovers she may actually be a Russian sleeper agent. Although presented with evidence that Eva Azarova is wanted by four other agencies and NCIS, Luca refuses to believe Eva lied to him.
When he is cleared, Luca tells Abby that he will be heading home to clear things up but to possibly continue the search for his possible girlfriend.
NCIS: New Orleans Season 2[]
Following the events that took place after the plane crash and Luca heading home, he was then followed the New Orleans NCIS team but was proving to be just as difficult to help them and unaccepting of the truth regarding Eva Azarova. He demonstrated an almost unshakable faith in thinking Eva was an innocent but troubled woman he could help but began to doubt when he was constantly shown facts that proved her to be a spy and assassin. Even when Eva confirmed that she was these things, Luca still hoped to help her to the point he was willing to throw his life away.
After Eva was detained, she confirmed that Luca was the target the assassins were after since he had been the last known person to attend a private meeting where important information was involved and was being targeted by others who wanted to kill him. Eva admitted that she had been ordered to seduce Luca to get close to him and find out what he knew, but admitted she wanted to keep him safe, even if it meant using him as bait at certain points.
By the end, Luca was cleared of any involvement but still showed signs of willing to help Eva.
Personality[]
Luca is described by Abby as being more sunny and optimistic than herself, seeing only the good side of things and not taking any time to consider anything bad may be happening; right away believing anything he is told to be the absolute truth regardless of who the information comes from. This had led to Luca falling for numerous sob stories, especially if told by women, and has gotten into trouble by it for unintentionally getting himself and others involved in Ponzi schemes.
He also shows great faith in people almost to a fault. When confronted with the truth that his possible girlfriend Eva Azarova was a Russian spy, he refused to believe any of it to the point he was nearly labeled a traitor to the United States for trying to help her. Although very stubborn about his belief system, he does eventually begin to accept things after a while.
As a chef, Luca is very passionate but serious about his job. He is seen being very serious about the preparation of ingredients and also somewhat picky about food others make, calling the coffee at Gibbs favorite diner bad and in New Orleans refusing to eat a sandwich when he called the bread old for being store bought.
