Shane Brennan (born January 20, 1957) is a TV writer and producer who wrote 11 episodes for NCIS including the Season 6 episodes, Legend Part 1 (episode) and Legend Part 2 (episode), both of which served as the backdoor pilot for the first ever NCIS spin-off series, NCIS: Los Angeles.

Brennan joined the NCIS crew during NCIS Season 4, writing episodes before he was promoted to Executive Producer after Donald P. Bellisario stepped down.

After being on NCIS for seven years, Brennan left his position to become the permanent showrunner for NCIS: Los Angeles. He was succeeded by Gary Glasberg who became the new showrunner for NCIS, remaining in that position until his death in September 2016.

Upon leaving NCIS, Brennan worked on NCIS: Los Angeles as an Executive Producer, writing numerous episodes for NCIS: Los Angeles, a role he continued doing until July 2016 where he announced he was leaving the show with fellow NCIS: Los Angeles Executive Producer R. Scott Gemmill succeeding him as the showrunner for NCIS: Los Angeles up until its series finale that aired in May 2023.

Despite no longer being involved in the running of NCIS: Los Angeles, Brennan was still credited as the show's creator up until the show's series finale which aired in May 2023.
