Touch of Death is the twenty-first episode of NCIS: Los Angeles Season 3 as well as the 69th episode of the entire NCIS: Los Angeles series.
It is also the second and concluding part of a two part crossover event with the Hawaii Five-0 TV series that began with Pa Make Loa (episode).
It also marks the debut appearances of Detective Sergeant Danny Williams and Detective Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly who are main characters on "Hawaii Five-0".
In the aftermath of the revelation at the end of "Pa Make Loa", Callen and Sam arrive back in Los Angeles, the two NCIS agents accompanied by Hawaii Five 0 Detectives Danny Williams and Chin Ho Kelly as the Office of Special Projects Team and Hawaii Five-0 Task Force attempt to find and arrest a suspect who has gained access to the deadly smallpox but the investigation grows intense after the body of a woman accompanying the suspect is found in the bathroom of a flight that originally came from Hawaii. The two teams race to find the suspect and stop an impending threat not only to national security but also to mankind.
The episode begins with a recap of what happened in the Hawaii Five-0 episode, "Pa Make Loa" and it shows NCIS Office of Special Projects Special Agents G. Callen and Sam Hanna having a conference call with Hawaii Five-0's temporary leader, Detective Sergeant Danny Williams who informs them that Dracul Comescu, Callen's sworn enemy is in Hawaii due to the fact that HPD found Comescu's prints at a murder scene along with the shocking news that Comescu may have gotten his hands on a smallpox virus.
Back in the car as Callen struggles to digest the news, Sam tells Danny that they're on their way.
It then cuts to the Hawaiian airstrip where Callen is telling Danny that Comescu is not an idealogue and that OSP is guessing that Comescu found a buyer looking for a biological weapon.
A while later, the H50 and NCIS joint task force later arrive at a warehouse and discover that it's full of medical equipment.
"What the Hell is this?", Danny asks.
Fellow H50 Detective Chin Ho Kelly remarks that it resembles a quarantine station.
Later, while the station is being inspected and presumably dismantled as the bodies of the victims are taken away, H50's Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Max Bergman informs Danny and Chin that they found smallpox virus samples but not all of them because apparently several vials are missing.
In the International Market in Honolulu, Callen confronts and shoots Comescu, finally ending the feud that has been raging between the two families for many years.
Back at H50 HQ, Officer Kono Kalakaua, Chin's cousin tells Danny that the vials that they recovered at the scene didn't contain any smallpox.
In a hospital room, Danny and Chin get information from Comescu's driver, Marku who tells them that he and Comescu weren't involved and that the doctor was gone while Chin demands Marku give up the doctor's name.
Kono then tells the team that the doctor is Jarrod Prodeman who is a former highly respected epidemiologist but things take a grim turn when the team discover that Prodeman has already fled Hawaii and has arrived in Los Angeles with Danny stating that the suspect is on the mainland with nine vials of smallpox.
After the preview ends, it opens with the flight from Hawaii descending into Los Angeles airport, a flight attendant tells the passengers to make sure that their seats are back and that their tray tables are in their full upright position. She also states that their seat-belts should be securely fastened, that all carry-on luggage stowed underneath the seat in front of the passengers or in the overhead bins and that they should turn off all electronic devices until they're safely parked at the gate.
Once she's finished, she then knocks on the bathroom door and tells the person inside if they can hear her before telling her colleague that the other passengers are telling her that the person in the bathroom has been inside for a while.
Her colleague tells her to hang on and she goes to grab a key which she does, handing it to the first flight attendant who opens the door and peaks inside, muttering, "Oh my God".
It then cuts to show that Sharon Walker who's sitting on the toilet seat is dead, having bled out through her eyes and nose.
In the Office of Special Projects Building, Eric is busy walking up the steps to the Ops Center, informing someone that the suspect they're looking for is a man named Jarrod Prodeman who's traveling from Hawaii to Los Angeles on board Hanalei Air Flight 972 and that Prodeman switched boarding passes with a man named Benjamin Gallagher in order to fly with an unidentified female companion and that Prodeman could be carrying a biochemical weapon.
As he enters the Ops Center, he continues talking but he stops when the person he's talking to says something which has Eric stating, "How long ago?" before muttering, "Damn it".
In the corner, Eric's partner, NCIS Tech Analyst Nell Jones is busy working on something but the computer isn't being so helpful, causing her to remark what's wrong with the equipment. Eric then joins her, wanting to know if there's a problem.
Nell states that she's trying to contact Callen but some reason, the communication keeps freezing and nothing she's doing seems to help. Eric tells her to let him take a look.
As Nell gets up and Eric sits down, Nell remarks that they don't have time for this.
"You're right but we also don't have time to make mistakes so let's just take a step back. Okay?", Eric says.
Nell agrees to do that. Eric sighs and then begins typing on the computer which beeps. He then tells Nell to try. Nell then states if Callen can hear her but there's no response. She then asks if Eric got in touch with the flight crew.
Eric grimly tells her that he didn't and that the plane's already landed which has Nell muttering, "Oh, my God" in disbelief. Eric tries to reassure her by telling her that Kensi and Deeks at the airport but Nell isn't so calm, remarking that this is a disaster and that she can't believe the one time they want a flight delayed, the freaking thing just happens to be on time.
As she does that, Eric types something again, urging her to try her again.
Nell then calls for Callen and Sam, asking if anyone copies but again, there's no response.
Eric sighs and then slams the monitor's side, causing Nell to say, "Really?" before realizing that it worked and she then tells Eric that he needs to do it again. Eric agrees on the condition that Hetty isn't told with Nell agreeing.
Eric then hits the monitor's side again.
In the airplane, Chin emerges from the cockpit while Callen is still on his laptop, obviously trying to contact Eric and Nell.
Chin tells the group that the pilot said that he's going to shake the rivets loose if he pushes any harder which has Sam stating that's why they invented parachutes.
Danny then remarks that the civilians on board would prefer to land in one piece if that's alright with Sam.
Callen's amazed that Danny's never jumped out of a plane while Danny then states that he's never jumped out of a plane on purpose and he's never been involved in a blood feud either.
"Well, unless you count your mother-in-law", Chin pipes up.
Danny wants to know how the blood feud thing happens with Callen remarking that it's a Romani thing which has Danny stunned at the revelation that Callen's a Gypsy but any further discussion ends when Nell's voice is heard calling Callen's name.
As if by magic, both Nell and Eric appear on screen. Callen then remarks that they're here before asking Nell if she can hear them. Nell states that she can and that they've got audio and video back-up.
Callen reports that he and Sam are with Detective Lt. Kelly and Detective Sergeant Williams from the H50 Task Force and that the group are heading back to LA as fast as possible while Chin wants to know if they secured the plane.
Back at Ops, Nell tells them that Kensi and Deeks are at the airport with the authorities. Eric states that they tried to contact the pilot before they landed but they couldn't.
Back on the plane, Sam impatiently demands to know if the plane is secured, yes or no.
In Ops, Nell states, "No".
Back on the airplane and from his seat, Danny remarks that he's really been looking forward to getting back to the mainland but not under these circumstances. It then cuts to Sam who silently nods in agreement.
They finally reach the gate where Deeks quickly wonders if the gate they're at is Hanalei Flight 792.
When an airport employee confirms it, Kensi tells him that they have to keep the passengers on board but the airport employee tells them that the passengers in question have already deplaned before wondering if this about the passenger that died.
At Deeks's prompting, the airport employee then tells them that there was a death on the flight and that they waited to remove the body until the rest of the passengers were off the plane.
Kensi then tells the airport employee that they need to see the body right now with the airport employee agreeing and entering the code which opens the door. Kensi and Deeks then head up the ramp and reach the airplane.
Once they're there, Kensi identifies herself as NCIS before wondering where the body is. Female Flight Attendant 1 tells her that they're still waiting for the coroner and that they've got no idea what happened to her.
She then opens the door for Kensi and Deeks, enabling them to get a glimpse of the body. Deeks then remarks that it isn't Prodeman before wondering who she is.
The Female Flight Attendant just shakes her head while the other flight attendant gives Deeks a list containing the names of the passengers who were on board the flight.
Kensi wants to know where the victim's personal belongings are but the first Flight Attendant tells her that they didn't find anything on the plane.
Deeks then states that the seating chart has the woman's name as Sharon Walker and that according to the list, she was traveling with a companion before asking Kensi to guess who and as Kensi takes a photo of the dead woman with her phone, she states, "Jarrod Prodeman".
"Bingo", Deeks replies.
Kensi then remarks that hemorrhagic smallpox could havbe caused Walker to bleed out everywhere. The second flight flight attendant wonders if they're going to get sick before stating that there were 230 people on the plane.
Kensi tells her that prolonged face-to-face exposure or direct contact with infected fluids is required for transmission. Deeks states that the Health Department is going to be doing a follow-up with everyone on the plane. Kensi then tells Eric that she's sending him a photo and that Jarrod Prodeman was travelng with someone.
"Want to head him off at baggage claim?", Deeks asks.
As Deeks heads off, Kensi tells the flight attendants not to let anyone else come in contact with the body before she and Deeks leave the plane.
Back at Ops, as Hetty walks in, Nell confirms that the dead woman's name is Sharon Walker and that according to airline records, she was traveling with a man NCIS and H50 believe is carrying the virus- Jarrod Prodeman. Eri then states that he hasn't found Prodeman at the airport. Nell then states that she's found nothing that links those two together apart from the fact that they were staying in the same hotel in Hawaii.
"Maybe Virus Boy made a love connection", Eric wonders.
"Or maybe he knew we'd be looking for a Single White Male and not a happy vacationing couple", Hetty remarks before stating that she'll be updating Assistant Director Owen Granger and leaving.
At LAX, Kensi and Deeks are running through the baggage claim area with Kensi ordering people to get out of the way while Deeks orders another group to back up before telling Eric that they've got the place locked down and that Eric should holler out if he's got eyes on Prodeman.
Kensi then tells the group of NCIS agents and LAPD officers that they're looking for Jarrod Prodeman who's 5'9, about 180 with brown hair and brown eyes. She also states that they've got his photograph and that Prodeman might be in disguise and that he might be carrying two sets of carry-ons including a purse.
She then stops, noticing a man on the other side of the baggage claim area.
Deeks picks up the fact that she's spotted something and asks her if she sees him. Kensi believes that she might have due to the fact that the man's wearing a baseball cap and denim jacket but as she goes to get a glimpse, the man soon walks off, causing her to realize that it isn't Prodeman.
"I'm getting a bad feeling about this", Deeks replies while Kensi then asks Eric if he sees Prodeman.
Back in Ops, Eric announces that he's got Prodeman.
Back at the airport, Deeks wants to know where Prodeman is while back in Ops, Eric and Nell see Prodeman getting into a cab and leaving the airport. Kensi then impatiently asks Eric Prodeman he is.
In Ops, Eric grimly tells them that Prodeman left.
"What do you mean he left?", Kensi asks, stunned.
Eric remarks that Prodeman never ever went to baggage claim because he got in a cab and drove off six minutes ago before stating, "He's gone".
Back at the airport, Kensi sighs and puts her arms behind her head, obviously frustrated.
It then cuts to Deeks who looks grim-faced.
In the bullpen of the Office of Special Projects Building, Deeks is glancing at something on a screen and it's shown that it's a photo of a young African baby boy who's been infected with smallpox when Kensi comes in and tells him that Eric and Nell are still trying to track down the cab.
Deeks grimly interrupts her by wondering if she knows that they live on the only planet in the known universe with life on it? He also mentions that the planet has a fragile ecosystem, small, breathable atmosphere, all of which could be wiped out in a second by a meteorite or a mega-quake or...
"This isn't your B'ak'tun '12 end of the world apocalypse theories again?", Kensi wonders.
Deeks tells her that it isn't but he's just saying that it's such a shame because they're all only on this rock and yet they're still finding ways to kill each other.
Kensi tells Deeks not to get philosophical on her because it creeps her out.
Deeks then wonders what the worst that's could happen: a global pandemic capable of wiping out half the world's population.
Kensi then remarks that it kind of puts things in perspective.
"How's that?", Deeks wonders.
"Well, sometimes you don't know how lucky you are to have something until you realize you might lose it", Kensi replies.
Suddenly, the sound of Eric whistling cuts through the air, interrupting Kensi and Deeks's moment.
It's Eric who's standing on the stairs and he grimly tells them that they might want to see this.
A few minutes later, with Eric, Kensi and Deeks in Ops, Eric shows them a simulation of the predicted spread of a smallpox pandemic beginning in Los Angeles and as he hits a button, various countries all over the world begin turning red as the smallpox sweeps through them while above the simulation, a chart shows the number of weeks passing by along with the calculated umber of deaths that's growing rapidly.
"Oh, my God", Kensi whispers, horrified.
Eric states that it's a worst-case scenario and that with containment, isolation and inculcation, they can theoretically, prevent this. Kensi wants to know if Eric found the cab yet. Eric tells her that he lost it in airport traffic but Nell's on the phone with the cab company trying to determine where the driver dropped Prodeman off.
Kensi wants to know about Jarrod Prodeman.
Eric tells that Jarrod Prodeman was a respected epidemiologist from Pittsburgh, that he's divorced, that he has no kids and that Prodeman was disgraced back in 2007 when it was revealed that he cooked some data to pump up his research.
Deeks is stunned, wondering what it is before asking if it's revenge.
Eric states that it might be but who's paying for it? He then tells that it isn't Prodeman because he's broke and that he's been living in Hawaii for the last several months with no apparent means of income.
Kensi tells him to follow the money trail and that it might lead them to Prodeman and the virus.
With that, Deeks leaves Ops with Kensi taking one last look at the screen before joining Deeks. Meanwhile, Eric who's leaning against the desk, still staring at the screen, sighs heavily.
Meanwhile, downstairs, as Kensi and Deeks arrive back down from Ops, Callen and Sam arrive in from Hawaii with Danny and Chin in tow with all four men carrying bags too.
As they put their bags down, Callen makes the introductions: Detective Sergeant Danny Williams and Detective Lt. Chin Ho Kelly from the Hawaii Five-0 Task Force before introducing the two H50 Officers to Kensi and Deeks.
As they exchange greetings and shake hands, Chin tells Kensi that it's nice to finally meet her with Kensi thanking him although she voices her belief that she wishes it was under different circumstances.
Danny then remarks that the OSP Building is great and that he feels like they should be eating nachos and ordering a pitcher of margaritas.
Hetty then appears, telling Danny that the OSP building is a fine example of the Spanish Mission style of California and that the least they could do is to preserve its heritage because after all, first impressions are so important.
Sam attempts to make the introductions but Hetty interrupts, stating that she already knows who the H50 Detectives. She then tells them that she appreciates them being here to help NCIS out.
Chin tells her that there's too much at stake for them not to see this thing through. Hetty agrees, stating that they're the first outsiders to ever step foot in this operations center which shows them the severity of the situation.
Danny then tells Hetty that he appreciates her not blindfolding himself and Chin which has Hetty laughing wryly. Deeks then gets things back on track by reporting that the good news is that they were able to detain most of the passengers from the flight at baggage claim along with the flight crew and that the Health Department's looking over them right now.
Callen wants to know if there are any leads on Prodeman but Kensi tells him that Eric's still trying to track Prodeman down. Hetty then tells Kensi that she and Deeks could brief Danny and Chin before telling Sam and Callen that she needs to speak with the two of them.
As Sam, Callen and Hetty head over to Hetty's office area, Kensi leads Danny and Chin into the bullpen. Danny hangs back, wondering to Deeks if Hetty comes with the building but Deeks tells to go easy because Hetty has ears like a bat.
"Really?", Danny asks, amused. "She sleep upside-down too?".
Deeks then states that he'll be over here before heading over to his section of the bullpen.
It then cuts to Hetty's office where as she approaches her desk, she grimly tells Sam and Callen that they're up to their asses in alligators on this one and that they'll know what will happen when the media gets a hold of this.
"All Hell's going to break loose", Sam states.
Hetty remarks that it's going to make Hell look organized. Callen then states that misinformation and confusion will lead to panic, fear will lead to a mass exodus, traffic jams, rioting, looting with Sam stating that the market will drop and as such, America will become a pariah, even to its allies while fundamentalists will think it's an act of God.
"It'll be a cluster..", Hetty begins.
"Bomb", Callen interrupts before telling her that at some point, she's going to have to alert the public for their own safety. Hetty sadly agrees but until that moment comes, Callen and his team have been granted plenary power to do what it takes to stop this situation here and now. She then opens her drawer and produces a box which she puts on the table.
A few minutes later, everyone's gathered in the bullpen for a briefing and as Hetty arrives in, Kensi thanks the person she's talking to on the phone before hanging up. She reports that the taxi company told Nell that Nell that a man matching Prodeman's description paid in cash and was dropped off at the Seaward Hotel in Venice with Deeks announcing that they've also got an address for Sharon Walker.
Hetty's thrilled before announcing that Detectives Deeks, Williams and Kelly need a smallpox inoculation before they can go any further. Deeks wonders why it's just himself and the H50 Detectives who need the vaccine with Sam telling him that it's because everyone else already had the vaccine.
Deeks wonders if there's some kind of pill they can take with Danny wondering if there's a patch while Deeks suggests if there's some nasal spray but Hetty states that there isn't. Deeks then states he's not a huge fan of needles.
From his seat, Callen just laughs.
Deeks then suggests that Hetty go to the guests (Danny and Chin) first but Danny suggests that Deeks go ahead because Danny has to work on his sleeve which he struggles to loose.
Sam remarks that ten bucks says that one of the guys, Danny or Deeks goes down with Chin telling the two guys to man up. Kensi then tells Deeks that she'll buy him ice cream if he doesn't but Deeks states that he doesn't want any ice cream.
Hetty then signals for Deeks to approach her, forcing Deeks to grudgingly surrender and approach Hetty. As Deeks rolls up his sleeve, Hetty tells him that's it and that he might feel a tiny little prick which has Deeks confused.
"It's probably not his first time", Danny states, smiling.
Just as Hetty puts the needle in Deeks's arm, it then cuts to an overhead view of Los Angeles just as Deeks is heard screaming followed by the sound of a crash, presumably Deeks fainting which has Sam remarking, "Man down".
A while later, Kensi and Deeks arrive at Sharon Walker's house. As Kensi switches the engine off, Deeks is busy scratching his right arm which has a bandage on it. Kensi tells him to stop scratching it but Deeks is still complaining, telling Kensi that it burns and did she see Hetty? Apparently, Hetty stabbed Deeks's arm as if she was fending off a bear attack.
Kensi sighs and then asks Deeks how his head's doing. Deeks tells her that it's fine and at Kensi's look, Deeks insists that he didn't pass out and that he actually tripped. Kensi then remarks that Deeks dropped like a rock.
"Like I tripped on a rock", Deeks replies.
"Okay. Well, don't fall out there, Stumbles", Kensi mutters.
With that, they both exit the car and begin approaching the house. As this happens, Deeks tells Kensi that he finds it unbecoming that she laughed at him in front of the H50 boys with Kensi telling him that it was funny.
"I'm glad that you all bonded over the hilarity of my misfortune", Deeks replies.
Kensi tells Deeks not to be such a drama queen but Deeks begins wondering about her little performance back there- (in the OSP bullpen). Kensi wants to know what Deeks is talking about but Deeks assures her that she does know what he's talking about, ie, The over-the-top laughing, the hair flip, the pelvic tilt and the fact that Kensi was throwing out more flirtation signals than a divorce on a singles' cruise.
Kensi believes that Deeks has a concussion but Deeks tells her that he has a partner who freaks out and turns into a schoolgirl every time there's cute new boys hanging around. Kensi then tells Deeks that he's a liar before stating that she finds it very interesting that Deeks thought they were cute too before wondering if Deeks has a little island fever going.
Deeks then wonders if she didn't do this.
"Adjust my ponytail?", Kensi states.
Deeks then tells her that she adjusted her ponytail so that she could present her armpits. Kensi's confused with Deeks telling her that the armpit is the center of pheromone production but Kensi tells Deeks that he's certifiably insane.
Deeks states that he isn't the one presenting his scent glands to everyone with Kensi stating that she's glad because the only thing Deeks gives off is repellent. Deeks then rolls his eyes and tells Kensi that she probably loves his scent, that she probably sleeps with one of his old T-shirts before informing her that he's missing one.
"That's because it crawled out of your gym bag, and I shot it to put it out of its misery", Kensi states before stating that she doesn't sleep with anything on, unless it's a costume.
And as she heads away, Deeks mumbles, "That was uncalled for".
Kensi soon knocks on the door and Sharon's twin sister, Carol Walker which has the two temporarily stunned due to the fact that she bears a striking resemblance to the victim but they quickly recover.
Carol wants to know if she can help them.
Kensi and Deeks identity themselves, even showing Carol their badges. Kensi wants to know if this is the home of Sharon Walker. Carol confirms that it is before wondering if her sister's okay.
"You're Sharon Walker's sister?", Deeks states.
Carol tells them her name and states that Sharon's her twin. Kensi then remarks that perhaps it would be better if they came inside to talk but Carol, frustrated tells them that it would be better if they told her what the Hell's going on.
Kensi then admits that they have some bad news.
"What sort of bad news?", Carol asks.
Kensi tells her that it's about her sister, Sharon but Carol tells them that Sharon's on her way back from Hawaii and that she's going to be at the house any minute.
Deeks then gets straight to the point by telling Carol that her sister passed away on the flight home, leaving Carol stunned.
It then cuts to Kensi who looks grim.
Meanwhile, in the Dodge Charger, Callen's in the passenger seat with Sam behind the wheel. Callen then tells Sam that maybe he should slow down with Sam telling Callen that maybe he should remember their rule about not criticizing each other's driving.
Callen tells Sam that he isn't criticizing: he just doesn't want to lose the H50 guys. Sam then remarks that if they can tail a suspect, then he's sure they can follow him. Callen states that they live on an island.
"They're cops, not the Skipper and Gilligan", Sam replies.
Callen then suggests that maybe he and Sam retire to a nice warm island. Sam wants to know about his family with Callen suggesting that he could bring them.
Sam sarcastically thanks Callen who insists that he means it and after all this is over, they ought to settle down somewhere nice and quiet and do some fishing, golfing and build things.
"What kind of things?", Sam wonders.
Callen admits that he doesn't know before stating that it's whatever guys build when they retire, like hobby stuff which has Sam in disbelief. He then tells Callen that he doesn't fish and he doesn't golf.
"I'm not retired", Callen replies.
Sam then tells Callen that he doesn't have any hobbies and the only way a guy like Callen would retire is with a bullet. After realizing too late that what he's said has hit a sore spot with Callen, Sam just sighs.
Callen then sarcastically thanks Sam who then changes tact and tells Callen that what he meant to say was that he can't see Callen giving this up. Callen then tells Sam to say that and not to jinx him by saying that Callen's going to get...
Callen then states that he's been "you know what" several times to which Sam replies, "I know". Callen states that he's already pressing his luck before telling Sam if he knows what he's doing after they get this guy?
"What's that?", Sam asks, curious.
"I'm getting a hobby", Callen announces.
"Maybe you should start scrap-booking our cases", Sam suggests.
Callen just looks at Sam who laughs.
A while later, at Venice Beach, Callen and Sam burst into Prodeman's apartment, wielding their guns as they search for any sign of the man himself but there's none which has Sam sighing in disbelief upon realizing that the apartment is empty.
A short time later, as the apartment area is taped off, Callen calls Eric and tells him to track Prodeman's movement after he got to the hotel. Eric agrees to do that but tells Callen it won't be easy.
"I know. Just do your best", Callen says and as he hangs up, Sam joins him, informing Callen that Sharon Walker's carry-on and purse were in the closest but Hazmat didn't find any sign of the virus and that the roof safe was empty too.
Callen wants to know if Sam thinks Prodeman's in the wind but Sam admits that Sharon Walker's death wasn't part of the plan which means that Prodeman may be improvising.
Callen finds that great because Prodeman's more likely to make a mistake that way but Sam remarks that it makes Prodeman more dangerous too and that if they don't find this guy fast, then they may want to head back to Hawaii.
As this happens, Danny and Chin emerge and join Callen and Sam with Chin reporting that the manager told him that Prodeman hasn't had any incoming or outgoing phone calls or any visitors whatsoever. Chin also reports that the room's only rented for a night and that Prodeman hasn't been there long enough for any of the guests or staff to have gotten a really good look at him.
Callen wants to know if they tried the locals with Danny remarking that they did but they weren't so helpful although Danny mentions that he did speak to a woman who said that she saw Jesus fishing off the pier yesterday.
"She say what he was using for bait?", Callen asks.
Danny admits that the woman didn't before stating that Los Angeles is where the crazy come to vacation.
Chin admits that he kind of likes it because it's like being at the circus.
Sam then tells Chin that he might not want to be here during the full moon though.
As they all examine the area, Callen believes that they missed Prodeman but Chin, looking around states, "Maybe not".
On cue, they spot a guy matching Prodeman's description approaching the building with Callen remarking, "Is that him?".
Prodeman then spots the Agents, turns around and flees with Chin remarking, "I'd call that a yes".
He and Sam rush after Prodeman with Sam identifying himself as a federal agent while Danny and Callen stay behind despite the fact that Callen wants to join on the chase.
Prodeman grabs a bike from a stand but crashes against another stand. He soon dumps the bike and runs onto the beach in an attempt to get away, only for Sam to take him down, sending both men crashing into the sand.
"Think that hurt as bad as it looked?", Danny wonders.
It then cuts to Callen who says, "Yeah, that's going to leave a mark".
In the interrogation room of the boat-shed, Callen and Sam are busy interrogating Prodeman who tells them that he wants a lawyer. Callen walks away, wondering what Sam thinks with Sam telling Callen if he was in Prodeman's shoes, he'd want to be the one in the courtroom who tried to stop a deadly pandemic, not be the one who helped kill millions of people.
Prodeman tells them that he didn't know it was smallpox and that he thought they were pirating someone's drug research. Callen wants to know how Prodean can explain the death of Sharon Walker with Prodeman telling them that Sharon had cancer and that she was in Hawaii, celebrating a remission before stating that she must have relapsed or something. Callen wants to know why Prodeman stole Sharon Walker's personal belongings.
Prodeman admits that he panicked, that he didn't want to stick around to answer questions and that he was going to give them to her family first chance he got but Sam isn't convinced, simply stating, "Nice try".
With that, Sam produces his phone and shows Prodeman a video.
It then shows a video of a patient as Prodeman's voice is heard stating that the patient beta developed flu-like symptoms twenty hours ago and that the temperature of 38.5 degrees was Celsius before Prodeman goes on to state that eight hours later, a rash emerged on the tongue and in the mouth and that Prodeman expects a pustular rash period to begin within the next ten or 12 hours.
As the video ends, Sam tells Prodeman that his voice was matched to those experiments that Prodeman himself performed on the people in Hawaii and that if they combine those with Sharon Walker, then that's five murders with a class "A" select agent.
Callen then states that it's a Title 18, Section 2332- bio terrorist attack on American citizens which means that Prodeman's going to get the death penalty.
"Times five", Sam announces.
Callen grabs Prodeman's bag and pulls out an envelope before stating that it's Prodeman's last chance as he asks the other man who was paying him off. Prodeman eventually tells him that it was Dr. Rachel Holden.
"I hope it was worth it", Callen states and then throws the bag towards Prodeman who catches it, stunned.
In the main area of the boatshed, while Chin watches the Interrogation continuing on screen, Danny is on the phone, telling his daughter that everything's fine and that he just needed to come here for a couple days for work.
As this goes on, Kensi and Deeks walk into the boat-shed.
Danny then hangs up but not before telling his daughter that he's gotta go and that he'll call them both in a little bit.
As Deeks looks at Danny, silently wondering what the call was about, Danny tells them that he just thought that he should call his daughter.
Deeks then asks how the interrogation's going.
Chin states that they just got a name: Dr Rachel Holden and that their guys (Eric and Nell) are already running it down before voicing his hope that they're quick about it.
In the Ops Center, Eric suggests an abandoned missile silo but Nell dismisses it, stating that it's underground and that if she was going to be bugging out, she'd want to be on a deserted tropical island. Just her and a couple hundred of her favorite books.
Eric then states that he has excellent tropical survival skills and that he's just putting it out there for the record before stating that there are tons of Dr. Rachel Holdens in this country--doctors, dentists, veterinarians, not to mention those with PhDs.
Nell then believes that she might have found who they were looking for. She has a Dr. Rachel Holden who's an epidemiologist at the Malibu Cancer Institute. She then pushes Eric's info aside and brings up a photo of Dr. Holden.
"Yeah, just knock my stuff out of the way", Eric mutters.
As they glance at the photo, Nell remarks that Dr. Holden doesn't look like a mad scientist. Eric then remarks that they know what they say about mad women. Nell admits that she doesn't know before asking Eric what do they say?
Eric lies, stating that he doesn't know before telling her that they probably say something.
Nell then tells Eric that she'll alert the others.
In the Interrogation Room in the Boat-shed, Callen's asking Prodeman why Holden was making the virus but Prodeman tells him that he doesn't know. Sam keeps up the pressure by asking him who was paying her to do it?
Prodeman states that he doesn't know and that he brought the virus to LA, that Holden met him at the hotel and paid him and that was the end of it for Prodeman.
Callen insists that Holden had to have a buyer but Prodeman insists that Holden never told him who it was.
Back in the main room of the boat-shed and as Callen begins telling Prodeman that smallpox is a weapon of mass destruction, Danny is again talking to his daughter, telling her that he misses her too and that he'll see her in a couple of days of saying goodbye before hanging up.
At a desk, Chin who's busy examining something on a laptop with Deeks states that none of the victims in Hawaii have any connections to L.A. or to Jarrod Prodeman.
Deeks remarks that this doesn't make sense and that they must be missing something.
"Yeah", Chin states. "Besides a couple nights of sleep?".
Danny then remarks that he's really hungry before wondering if there's anything to eat in this secret hideout of theirs. Deeks tells him that there's a taco truck around the corner, if Danny wants to grab a pencil and start taking orders.
"Wow", Danny remarks. "I was under the impression that Hetty packed your lunch".
Deeks is stunned but upon recovering quickly, he sarcastically remarks that Danny is funny and Deeks then tells Kensi that he hopes that his witty banter isn't this annoying. Kensi just replies, "Whoever said you were witty?".
"Oh, touché", Deeks remarks.
Danny then wonders if that's all Deeks has with Deeks admitting seconds later that he is and that he's out.
As Danny remarks "Wow", Kensi changes the subject by asking Danny and Chin if McGarrett ever found out what "Shelburne" meant.
Chin states that he thought he did...
At the sound of Chin hesitating, Kensi prompts with Danny eventually admitting to her that Steve is still looking for answers. Danny then spots Deeks staring at him and wonders if he can help Deeks with something.
Deeks then tells Danny that he was just thinking about Danny's hair while wondering if it's bulletproof. Danny admits that Deeks's comment was good before telling Deeks that he's got a haircut like his neighbor's Schnauzer, and he's talking to Danny about grooming.
Deeks then remarks that his hairstyle is style by pillow with Danny stating that he doesn't know what that means. Deeks tells him that it's a lot less hair spray.
Danny admits that it's good with Deeks telling Danny that he's just warming him up for the A game.
"The A game?", Danny remarks. "All right".
"Yeah", Deeks agrees.
Danny then tells Deeks to be careful because he wouldn't want Deeks to hurt himself. Kensi's phone then beeps with Chin urging her to get that.
Kensi then breaks up the argument between Danny and Deeks by telling them that they've got an address for Dr. Rachel Holden before muttering, "Thank God".
As Kensi and Deeks leave, Deeks hangs back and tells the H50 guys not to break anything which in turn prompts Kensi to come back and drag Deeks out the door.
A while later, as they're walking to the entrance of the Malibu Cancer institute, Deeks hangs up and then informs Kensi that Dr. Rachel Holden is supposedly on sabbatical, except for the fact her house has been foreclosed on and her car was repossessed.
Kensi states that it sounds like someone going into hiding but Deeks believes it's a case of someone who's fleeing the country. He also mentions that so Eric and Nell requested access to her files and to her office, but the hospital is refusing further cooperation until they talk to their legal council.
Kensi is in disbelief, stating that they don't have time for this with Deeks announcing that they'll be playing doctor before stating that it isn't true because Deeks will be the doctor and Kensi will be the nurse.
"Why? Because you look more like a doctor than I do?", Kensi snaps.
No, because you look more like a nurse than I do", Deeks announces.
Unfortunately, Kensi isn't too thrilled, stating that it's really sexist with Deeks stating while she says sexist, he says sexy. Kensi then announces that she's playing the doctor and Deeks will be a nurse.
"Too late", Deeks replies. "I already called it".
Inside the Malibu Cancer institute, Deeks is wearing scrubs and is pushing someone, an old man in a wheelchair. He then calls someone, "Doctor". Kensi then steps into the hallway, wearing a doctor's coat and she sighs heavily before asking who the man in the wheelchair is.
Deeks announces that the guy is Murray with Murray stating that the doctors took out his spleen. Deeks then chimes that Murray was only there, visiting someone. Kensi wants to know what they're going to do with Murray.
Deeks explains that Murray is their cover with Murray wondering if Kensi's going to check him. Deeks assures Murray that Kensi will. Unsurprisingly, Kensi tries to get out of it by asking for Dr. Holden's number.
Deeks tells her that it's 150 and to cover for her.
Kensi then states that she's now gonna check Murray with Deeks telling Murray to take what's his and with that, Deeks begins picking the lock of the office door but they're interrupted by a Nurse who emerges, demanding to know who Deeks is.
Deeks wonders if she's talking to him with the nurse stating Deeks doesn't even work in the building. Deeks states that he's a private nurse and he's Mr. Edelstein's home health care provider.
The nurse buys the lie and then tells Deeks that her patient pulled his catheter out again and that she needs somebody to hold him down while the nurse puts it back in. Deeks then tells her that she's in luck because that happens to be Dr. Blye's specialty and that Dr. Blye is a urologist before suggesting Kensi go help the nurse and that Deeks himself can handle this.
The Nurse thanks him and they soon hear a noise coming from the room.
"Oh", Kensi says.
The Nurse sighs and goes back into the room while Kensi tells Deeks that he's so going to pay for this. Deeks reminds her that she was the one who wanted to be the doctor, even when Deeks himself called it and he tells her that he'll see her later.
As Kensi heads off, Deeks urges Murray to keep an eye and give him a high-five before telling Murray that he's awesome.
Deeks finally gains access to the office and heads inside. He then sits down behind the computer, switches it on and begins typing.
However, some writing on the wall gets his attention and he states, "And the four angels, who had been prepared for this very hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind...".
It then cuts to Deeks who mutters, "Oh, my God" with a look of horror on his face.
In a downstairs area of Ops, Eric is looking at the screen which has photos of the murdered smallpox victims from Hawaii. Nell asks him why he keeps running this with Eric telling her that whenever he gets tired or frustrated, it helps him to remember the victims and their loss pushes him to keep going and try a little harder.
Nell then remarks that it's soon disturbing with Eric stating that it's why he's running it down here instead of up in Ops. He then closes the photos and asks Nell if she found anything else about Dr. Rachel Holden.
Nell states that she has and that Holden hasn't used her credit cards for several weeks but two of the last things she brought were plane tickets, one for Jarrod Prodeman to Amsterdam, and the other for was herself: Taca International Flight 529 which leaves LAX tomorrow at 7:42 a.m. for San Jose, Costa Rica.
Eric then realizes that Holden's fleeing the country in less than 24 hours.
"Which means, whatever she's doing with the virus, it's going down today. We just don't know what, when or with whom", Nell replies.
Eric tells her that Kensi and Deeks are bringing him Holden's hard-drive and hopefully, there's something on it. Nell just doesn't why someone would want to do this. Eric suggests that it could be for money, revenge or maybe religious fanaticism. Nell then states that it's so stupid for lack of a better word and it means, you're smart enough to regenerate this virus, then you're smart enough to understand the dangers that surround it.
Eric then remarks that she isn't kidding because it's hard enough to get your hands on the vaccine. Nell then tells Eric to hold up and that he's a genius. Eric remarks, "Well, yeah", before wondering what Nell's talking about.
Nell begins typing on the computer screen while stating that the vaccine and that whoever's handling the stuff understands how dangerous it is so they're going to want to be vaccinated before they touch it.
Eric agrees but someone can only get the vaccine if they're in the military or a specialized health care worker. Nell agrees and Eric states that they'd have to steal it with Nell suggesting that it would have to be from either a military base or a State Health Department facility.
"Worth a shot", Eric replies.
Nell then finds something concerning a break-in at the State Health Department facility in Torrance that happened two weeks ago.
Eric then states that like Nell said, he is a genius.
Nell agrees and states that she'll tell Hetty as they exchange a high-five.
Once Nell's gone, Deeks and Kensi come in with Kensi remarking that she hopes that high-five means good news. Eric tells her that they'll know soon enough before wondering how they did at the Health Center.
Deeks states that Kensi missed her calling and that she should have been a doctor. Kensi isn't impressed, remarking that it was disgusting before asking Eric if he ever put in a catheter?
"Not professionally", Eric replies before wondering that's Rachel Holden's hard-drive. Deeks remarks that it is but he believes that it's been wiped clean before telling Eric that there's nothing on it.
As he gives Eric the hard-drive, Eric remarks that it might be for Deeks but he bets that this baby (Holden's hard-drive) has got plenty of secrets to tell Eric before telling it that it's a good little girl, isn't it?
At Deeks and Kensi's glances, Eric tells them that he'll let them know what he finds before leaving.
"You do that", Kensi replies.
As they walk off, Deeks wants to know what the chances are that Eric has a homemade sex robot with Kensi wondering if Deeks broke his again. Deeks assures her that Robo-Kensi's still going strong with Kensi telling Deeks that he disgusts her.
Deeks remarks that Robo-Kensi never talks to him like that.
A while later, as Deeks and Kensi enter Ops, Nell is already telling Hetty that they've got a suspect for the break-in at the State Health Department facility with his name is Gabriel Marchal.
"Pretty name for an ugly man", Hetty remarks.
Nell smirks and then tells them that Robbery has passed the case over to Narcotics. Narcotics doesn't want to move on the case because they feel nothing of significant street value was stolen; they want to build their case.
Deeks admits that it doesn't help them with Nell agreeing except for the fact that Marchal is linked to several unsavory groups before asking Kensi if she remembers the ELE? Kensi does, stating that ELE which stands for Enhanced Law Enforcement are or were a homegrown militia group who took it upon themselves to secure the border by killing innocent people but Kensi mentions that she and the team took those guys down two years ago.
"Apparently not all of them", Nell remarks.
Deeks then states that it would make sense in a sick way because if ELE wanted to stop immigration forever, then they could choose to release an epidemic of smallpox in Mexico.
Hetty then remarks that the U.S government would have no choice but to lock down the border.
"So where do we find these guys?", Kensi wonders.
It then cuts to Nell who smiles.
A while later, at the beach, while Sam is taking photographs, Callen is talking to someone, telling them to back-up ready to roll in and lock this place down the minute they hear from him before thanking the person at the other end and hanging up just as Danny emerges, appearing outside Callen's window while Chin emerges alongside Sam's.
As they lounge about, Danny reports that he got three out front, two on the inside with Chin remarking that they're packing.
Sam states that the place will clear out once the sun goes down but they don't have time for that. Callen states that SOP- standard operating procedure would be to evacuate the area and send in a tactical hazmat team.
Danny remarks that he likes that plan because it means sending in the professional bug hunters but Callen disagrees, stating that unfortunately those people are paranoid by nature and that if they see the area being cleared, they're going to go ballistic and it would be the same thing if they see someone in a hazmat suit.
Chin agrees, stating that they can try and take those guys quietly but if they decide to open up with all those tourists around, there's going to be a bloodbath. Sam then realizes that they don't have to take them quietly with Danny wondering why Sam's smiling.
They then see a bulldozer and everyone except for Danny begins smiling. Danny begins strongly disagreeing with the plan and even shows Sam his nervous smile. A while later, Callen uses the bulldozer to tip over the trailer with someone, possibly Danny yelling "Earthquake!".
As the surprise attack leaves the ELE guys stunned, Callen and Sam round on the trailer, identifying themselves as federal agents and ordering the ELE members to get out of the damaged trailer.
A while later, with the area locked down and as Callen, Chin and Danny wait for results, Sam emerges, wearing a hazmat suit. He then removes it, informing the three that the virus they're looking for isn't there.
It then cuts to show Callen, Chin and Danny who look devastated.
Back in the Ops Centre, Nell wonders what that means with Eric stating that he thinks that it means that they didn't find it.
It then cuts to Hetty who tells them that it means that they're screwed.
A while later, Callen storms out of the Interrogation Room, pissed off while Gabriel Marchal gives him the evil-eye.
Callen then rings Nell who answers and it shows Nell walking through the upper area of the OSP Building.
In the boat-shed, Callen tells her that Gabrielle Marchal denies getting anything from Dr. Rachel Holden while in Ops, Nell tells him that she's got proof that Marchal wired over $100,000 to a bank account in Honolulu six weeks ago.
Callen then realizes that Marchal and his group bankrolled her in exchange for the virus, but she ripped them off instead?
"The good doctor has a death wish", Nell replies.
"Yeah, she does", Callen states gravely. "For all of us. Did Eric get anything off her computer?".
As they leave the OSP Armory, Eric tells Sam that Dr. Rachel Holden did a fairly decent job of erasing her hard drive and that it looks like she never used it for anything other than work with Sam stating that she left it behind because there was nothing for them to find.
Eric then tells Sam that he did, however, find some of her published research articles, several of which deal with pandemics. Sam insists that it's because Holden is an immunologist-- that's what she does. "Yeah, but it's the nature of her later articles that's a little disturbing", Eric replies.
"How so?", Sam asks.
In the Ops Centre, Kensi brings one of Holden's article over to the main screen and remarks that on her most recent article, Holden posits that pandemics are a natural part of the ebb and flow of life on this planet, and that by interfering with it, the human race is meddling with nature in a way that could lead to their undoing.
Hetty instantly picks up on that, stating that it's the Gaia theory and that it's the idea that the Earth is a complex interactive system that keeps life in balance with Deeks stating that essentially, the planet is a self-cleaning oven.
Kensi agrees and tells them that Holden posits that by wiping smallpox off the face of the Earth that the human race has eliminated one of the planet's regulating systems.
Hetty then states with disbelief that Holden believes that she's doing God's work by releasing a plague of biblical proportions.
Deeks then realizes that in Holden's mind, the only way to save the planet is by allowing it to naturally thin out the human herd-- in this case, through smallpox and Kensi then tells them that Holden's planning on leaving in the morning which means whatever she's planning is going to go down in the next few hours.
In the bullpen, Danny suggests that Holden might be planning on taking the virus to Costa Rica but Chin states that Costa Rica looks like a place more to hide out than to launch a pandemic and that Holden would want to spread it as quickly as possible.
"Like at an international airport", Callen suggests.
Sam believes that Holden left the virus at the airport and that when international passengers come into contact with it, they'll take it whenever they go. Danny disagrees, stating that Holden has to know that they're looking for her given that all the airports are on high alert.
Nell then arrives down, telling them that she thinks she's got something before stating that two months ago, Holden ordered enough office supplies to stock a small business but Nell didn't think anything of it until she found this: an order for 300 custom T-shirts from a local clothing company and when Nell contacted the office supply store, they confirmed that most of the purchases were school supplies.
Danny's in disbelief that Holden's targeting kids with Callen stating that it's Holden's dispersal mechanism. Sam then states that it's like the British giving blankets infected with smallpox to Native Americans.
Chin then states that if they gave a kid a t-shirt, then he takes it home and he could infect his entire family. Sam believes that Holden might be donating it to schools but Kensi gets an idea and then tells Deeks if he remembers when they were at the airport and that they saw that group of teenagers at baggage claim?
Deeks then realizes that it was a class trip of sorts with Danny stating that it's too late for Spring Break. Kensi admits that she doesn't know but there was a group of Japanese students and she's pretty sure she heard other kids speaking German.
As she says that, the tablet in her hand beeps, causing her to mutter, "Damn it".
She then mentions International Leaders of Tomorrow and states that High School seniors representing 36 different countries are gathering for a series of lectures and exercises designed to encourage dialogue, understanding, tolerance and friendship.
"That's definitely not as fun as spring break", Danny remarks. Sam states that they need to shut it down but Callen tells them that they're too late because it started an hour ago.
A while later, it cuts to the International Leaders of Tomorrow market where numerous young people are busy examining various things. Callen and Sam pace one area while Deeks and Kensi patrol another while Danny and Chin glance around as they try to spot Dr. Holden.
Danny and Chin however spot two young guys carrying bags with t-shirts. As they rush over, Danny tells the two to put the bag down while Chin orders them to drop the bag. One guy drops the bag while Danny tries to grab the other with the guy's friend wondering what the damage is.
"My damage, genius, is that I'm a cop and I just saved your life", Danny snaps while Chin wonders they got the t-shirt. The second guy tells him to get his own because they're giving them away for free and points to a stand where they see Dr. Holden.
Through his earpiece, Chin tells Callen, Sam, Kensi and Deeks that they've got a location and that she's in the southeast corner. Kensi reports that she sees Holden who's wearing a blue awning.
"Federal agents!", Deeks yells.
Unfortunately, Holden spots them and flees. Kensi tells Callen that Holden's running with Callen telling Kensi that they've got and that she should lock the place down and scramble hazmat.
Holden then gets into her car and prepares to drive away with Callen and Sam pulling two people out of the way.
As Holden flees, Danny and Chin emerge, wielding their guns and begin firing at the fleeing car with Sam and Callen eventually joining in.
This causes the crowds to begin ducking for cover while the shots eventually pay off, sending the car off-course and crashing into a poll and almost instantly, the NCIS/H50 team descend on the car straightaway.
Sam looks in the trunk and confirms that they've got the vials. Danny then orders Dr. Holden to get out of the car which she does before telling her that she's under arrest.
Holden tells Danny that the Earth is dying and mankind is the disease before insisting that she was just trying to give the planet a fighting chance.
"By killing millions of people?", Danny asks.
Holden states that it took tens of thousands of years for the planet's population to reach a billion but they've gone from six to seven billion in 12. She then tells Danny to do the math which has him refusing and remarking that he hates Math.
Sam then rounds on Holden, wondering what would have happened if her pandemic killed the people who could one day solve our problems?
"You didn't think about that one, did you? It's all right. You'll have plenty of time to think about it in prison. Get her out of here", Callen states.
With that, Danny and Chin drag a cuffed Holden away while Callen sighs.
A few hours later, as Callen, Sam, Kensi, Deeks, Danny and Chin return to OSP, Nell informs the group that the Health Department and the CDC have secured the gift bags and are vaccinating anyone who may have been exposed and Eric adds in that Assistant Director Granger called to thank the Five-O Task Force for their assistance.
Deeks is stunned at the news, causing Nell to wonder if they forgot something.
"Yeah, you missed the fact that we basically saved the world", Danny says.
Deeks remarks that it's a tad dramatic but accurate nonetheless and that Danny's right after all because it's a big deal.
Eric and Nell walk off.
Deeks then states that they should get some sort of medals or at least some sort of presidential commendation but Danny states that they don't need medals and that he'd prefer it if Air Force One picked us up, flew them over to Vegas and gave them a complimentary suite in one of the high roller rooms.
"Nice. That's what I'm talking about. This man has vision", Deeks remarks.
Chin then states that he'll settle for a hot shower and a cold beer with Sam telling Chin that the hot shower's on them but he and Callen will pay for the beer and that it's the least they could do.
Danny states that they appreciate it but they really should go which has Callen stunned and Kensi wondering if Danny's got a hot date. Danny states that he doesn't but that they left the kids in charge of the island so they've got to go which has Kensi nodding in agreement.
"Well, there's that, and he's scared of Hetty", Chin replies.
Danny tries to assure everyone that he's not scared, stating that he thinks that Hetty's a delightful lady before asking the group if they've ever seen Trilogy of Terror? The film with the little voodoo doll that comes to life?
As he says that, it then cuts to behind him and it shows Hetty walking up behind him.
"Shh", Deeks urges.
Hetty then states that it stars Karen Black and that she worked with her and Nicholson on Five Easy Pieces. Or, as Hetty likes to call it, Six Hellish Weeks.
Danny then sarcastically or wryly remarks that it's very cool.
Hetty tells Danny that his talent for police work far exceeds his gift for discourse and that behalf on herself and NCIS, she'd like to thank Danny and Chin for their assistance.
Chin shakes her hand, telling her that she is most welcome.
Hetty glances at Danny who seems unwilling to shake her hand with Hetty assuring him that she doesn't bite unless she's provoked.
Danny vows that he'll never provoke Hetty and that he promises before telling them that they really do have a plane to catch.
Chin then states that the next time they'll take Callen and Sam up on their offer for drinks and maybe they can take a little side trip to Disneyland.
As they shake hands again, Danny's in disbelief, wondering if Chin's twelve but Chin tells Danny that he'll have him know that it is the happiest place on Earth.
Danny then remarks that's not cool before wishing Callen good luck with his Gypsy blood feud and as they shake hands, Callen remarks that they should do it again sometime but not any time soon.
Deeks then wishes them "Aloha" which Chin repeats back to them.
With that, Danny and Chin leave OSP to return to Hawaii while Hetty rolls her eyes, obviously relieved that the two are gone.
As she watches them go, Kensi remarks that she believes that they would make good NCIS agents with Callen agreeing that they know where to go if they need a Deeks replacement while Sam states, "Can't we just get one from the pound, like last time?".
Deeks just laughs.
Hetty then states that Detective Williams is just a tad cheeky for her liking with Deeks agreeing and saying, "No kidding".
Unsurprisingly, Hetty then rounds on Deeks, stating that Danny reminds her of another detective that she knows.
The penny drops for Deeks and he begins insisting that he isn't cheeky, he's charming and that he's so much more funnier than Danny with Sam sarcastically adding, "Oh, yeah" as Sam, Callen and Kensi head into the bullpen to get started on their reports.
Left alone in the hall, Deeks tells them to stop and think for a second what the place would be like without him.
At the entrance to her office area, Hetty pauses and turns around before walking away.
It then cuts to Deeks who smiles just as Hetty says, "Let me see. Peaceful, professional, sanitary".
As she says that, the screen goes black before Hetty is heard saying, "Feel free to stop me any time, Mr. Deeks".
