Vanessa is a Filipina serial killer.

Biography[]

Pre-Series[]

In the decade between 1992 and the beginning of the NCIS investigation into the disappearance of Gunnery Sergeant Bill Atlas, Vanessa systematically kidnapped and murdered every other Marine from Atlas' unit. Her acts were intended as retribution against the unit for their attempt to smuggle their lovers from the Philippines, including Vanessa, to the United States in a shipping container. Due to the unit being reassigned and dispersed to different ships, the women all starved to death save for Vanessa, the youngest, to whom they gave all the food and water.

Sacco retrieved Vanessa from the shipping container, becoming the only one of his unit to know that any of the women had survived.

NCIS Season 1[]

Vanessa kidnapped Atlas and left him to starve to death in a chamber alongside the skeleton of a prior victim. Some time later, she also kidnapped Agent Anthony DiNozzo, leading NCIS to ramp up their already-intense investigation of the unit's disappearances. DiNozzo's resourcefulness allowed him and a weakened Atlas to escape from Vanessa's custody just as Major Joe Sacco, the leader of the unit, arrived in the sewer system to rescue Atlas. Vanessa shot Sacco, who had initially been suspected in her place, as none of the others save for Sacco knew she had survived the incident.

Shortly thereafter, Vanessa was taken into custody after a confrontation with DiNozzo where she explained her motives to him and, unbeknownst to her, the other NCIS agents hiding in the corridor nearby.

Personality[]

Due to her trauma, Vanessa was a cruel and sadistic individual who savored the suffering she inflicted on the Marines she kidnapped. She repeatedly looked in on Atlas as he starved and was stung by insects she introduced into his confinement chamber, much like she had experienced during her ordeal in the shipping container. She also left a set of remains in the chamber from a prior victim to further traumatize Atlas, forcing him to sleep next to the corpse of his friend just as she had done. When captured by NCIS, she showed no regret for her actions and was prepared to execute a severely weakened Atlas if not for the intervention of Sacco and NCIS.
